Current statement
As of July 12, 2026, we state the following:
- Rift has not received any National Security Letters.
- Rift has not received any secret court orders (including orders under instruments such as FISA) that we are prohibited from disclosing in full.
- Rift has not been subject to any gag orders that prevent us from truthfully stating whether we have received such requests.
- Rift has not placed any backdoors in its software or knowingly compromised its cryptography at the direction of any government or third party.
We update this canary at least once every three months. The next update is due by October 12, 2026. If that date passes without an update, treat this page as stale and read the sections below.
What this page means
A warrant canary is a published statement that is updated on a fixed schedule while it remains true. If the statement disappears, is not updated by the due date above, or changes in a way that no longer affirms these points, users may reasonably assume that one of the affirmations above is no longer accurate. That could mean, for example, that we received a secret order we cannot discuss, or that we are legally unable to update the page truthfully.
A canary is not a substitute for cryptography, transparency reports, or legal process. It is one signal among many for a privacy-focused community.
If this page changes
If this page is removed, left stale past its due date without explanation, or altered to omit any of the commitments above, you should assume the situation has changed and evaluate your trust in Rift accordingly. We will keep updating this page on the schedule above while we are free to do so.
